Optimal internal rim width: 20–25 mm Use: Trail, Enduro Surface: Loose over hard, dirt, rocky FEATURES - Some tyres are semi-slicks and are fast, while others are massive and dig into the ground. The Trail Boss is something in between, designed as a tyre for intermediate terrain. The tight grouping of the centre knobs reduces rolling resistance without preventing them from digging in under braking. Tall outer knobs provide grip in the earliest phases of cornering. - The centre knobs are siped in a direction that improves traction under acceleration and braking by increasing the number of working edges that bite into the trail when you push the pedals or apply the brakes. The outer knobs feature cuts running parallel to the tyre to provide better cornering traction. - The Trail Boss 2.25 features siped knobs that maximise braking traction, while their relatively tight spacing improves rear-tyre longevity by increasing the total surface area opposing strong braking forces. Larger side knobs extend beyond the tyre sidewall, protecting it from cuts when riding with the rear wheel out. We suggest pairing the Trail Boss 2.25 with a Vigilante 2.3 up front. - TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) is WTB’s standardised tubeless system. These tyres feature a tubeless TCS casing that nearly eliminates punctures and allows lower tyre pressures to improve traction and comfort compared with a traditional inner-tube tyre. TCS Light Casing A single layer of flexible casing that conforms to the terrain to provide maximum performance, exceptional reliability and low rotating weight. DUAL DNA COMPOUND Dual DNA is the ideal combination of performance, traction and durability. The centre tread features a harder rubber compound that provides faster rolling and increased durability, while the side areas are made from softer, slower-rebounding rubber to improve control and traction. Configuration: LIGHT FAST ROLLING A harder, fast and efficient tread compound along the centre line of the tyre. The sides and side knobs are coated with a soft compound designed to be compliant while remaining trail-worthy. SG2 Single-layer TCS Light mountain tyres are available with SG2 puncture protection. SG2 is a lightweight nylon layer that protects all areas of the tyre with an additional level of puncture protection. Bead-to-bead SG2 technology also improves sidewall stability and overall tyre support without the additional casing weight of Tough construction (two layers). Flat nylon fibres in SG2 reduce the amount of rubber needed to fill the gaps between the fibres compared with traditional protective layers made with round fibres. The increased fibre-to-rubber ratio improves puncture resistance while reducing weight and improving flexibility compared with the Tough casing. Independent laboratory tests have shown that Bead-to-bead SG2 provides 80% better sidewall protection than traditional single-layer tyres without SG2.
